A SHELLebration of Community Support

The 12th Annual Yolo Crisis Nursery Crab Feed was a resounding success, proving to be an extraordinary gathering that reconnected our community in a powerful way. Almost 400 crab dinners, both take-out and in-person, were enjoyed!

This incredible turnout made the crab feed sell-out faster than ever before, a true testament to the unmatched generosity of our community. All proceeds from the Crab Feed directly support the Yolo Crisis Nursery Respite Care Programs serving Yolo County children and families facing unimaginable crises.

We are deeply grateful to our community, for turning out in such force, to demonstrate your unified support for the Nursery’s programs to protect children and preserve families. Thank you to the entire Friends of the Yolo Crisis Nursery committee who produced this event, especially Nancy Storm, and Sharon Schauer who co-chaired this event. We are grateful for your leadership and dedication to the Nursery’s mission.

We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the unwavering support and enthusiasm shown by our community for the Nursery and Crab Feed. The event’s incredible success, thanks to our generous sponsors, donors, volunteers, and guests, has raised funds to cover roughly 10% of the Nursery’s annual operating budget. Thank you for making a positive impact on the lives of children in Yolo County.

“Every year the funds raised at the Crab Feed help provide respite care for children when their families are in crisis. Thank you to all sponsors, donors, volunteers, and guests for being a positive force for change in our client families’ lives,” said Jeremy Higgins, president, Yolo Crisis Nursery. “We cannot thank Sharon Schauer and Nancy Storm enough. Year-after-year this sell-out event would not be possible without their leadership and tireless efforts.”

Congratulations to Sharon Schauer for being named volunteer of the year. Sharon’s generosity and dedication has made a tremendous impact on child safety in Yolo County. On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Nursery staff, and the Friends of the Yolo Crisis Nursery, we would like recognize and thank our Premier Sponsor Clark Pacific, King Crab Sponsor Kaiser Permanente, and Dungeness Crab Sponsor Diane Makley, Davis Odd Fellows, F Street Dispensary, and Nugget Market, for their generosity and support.

To our wonderful Blue Crab Sponsors: Assembly Member Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, Carbahal and Company Accounting, Corner Drug, Coldwell Banker Select Real Estate, David Nakano and Nancy Cronheim, Gregory Wilcox & Marguerite Callahan, Dignity Health, Kay Resler, Kim Eichorn – Lyon Real Estate, Nicocle Davis – Edward Jones, Recology, Supervisor Jim Provanza from the Office of Yolo County, Sharon Schauer and Brodie Hamilton, Steve and Evon Willhoff, Stewart and Ann Teal, and the Strombergs, Sparks, Storms, and Heards – Thank you.
