Volunteers are a critical piece of the Yolo Crisis Nursery’s success.
We have several ways to get involved at the Nursery and will work with interested volunteers to find a meaningful way for you to contribute. Some of the volunteer options are listed below, if you have a specific idea about how you would like to participate, please email Becky Heard at bheard@yolocrisisnursery.org

Volunteer at the Nursery
We offer opportunities for volunteers to work directly with the children in our care, providing additional support to the Nursery staff. It’s wonderful and rewarding to hold the babies, and you never have to change diapers!
There are, however, a few things to note:
- All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
- We request a one-year commitment to volunteer two hours a week.
- You must pass our screening process that includes fingerprinting, background test, and a TB test.
- You must complete 16 hours of training.

Join the Friends of the Yolo Crisis Nursery
All community members are invited to join the Friends of the Yolo Crisis Nursery Committee. This special group of volunteers focuses on fund-raising and community outreach. The Friends is lead by co-chairs Nancy Storm and Sharon Schauer. The Friends typically meet one evening a month. If you are interested in learning more about the Friends, please click here. If you’d like to talk with someone about what it is like to be a Friend, please email Rita Lundin at friends@yolocrisisnursery.org.

Join the Board of Directors
The Yolo Crisis Nursery Board of Directors was established in 2014. Our board is an active and involved group of volunteers that provide guidance, governance, and oversight for Yolo Crisis Nursery’s mission, operations, and program effectiveness.
If you are interested in applying to serve on the Yolo Crisis Nursery Board of Directors, please email board@yolocrisisnursery.org

Service Projects
Service Projects are typically an improvement project at the Nursery that a group will volunteer to complete in a day or over a weekend. They are a great opportunity for your company or group to build teamwork while giving back. Projects are based on current needs at the Nursery, but could include conducting an inventory of donations, organizing supplies, landscaping, outside clean-up, painting, furniture assembly, etc. To learn more about possible service projects, please email Joanna Isguerra at jisguerra@yolocrisisnursery.org.
